Independent Living
Independent Living Communities are ideal for individuals who do not require personal or medical care, but prefer not to live at home alone. Most facilities are equipped with standard safety features to make it easier for residents to continue to maneuver independently. Also, recreational activities are planned by the community, including day field trips, shopping excursions and on-premise projects to provide seniors. A majority of apartments are equipped with a kitchen so the resident can prepare their own meals, however, most facilities offer optional meal plans for residents to ensure preservation of health and safety.
Active Adult Communities (aka Senior Apartments)
The terms "Active Adult" or "Senior" refer to those 55 years or older and sometimes 62 years or older. Those communities catering to the Active Adult or Seniors and offer options designed specifically for "age qualified" adults who desire the maintenance-free lifestyle in addition to social and recreational activities.
Adult Day Care
Adult daycare offers a safe environment for adults during daytime hours to participate in a variety of planned programs including social activities, nutritional, nursing and rehabilitation services. Adult day care offers family caregivers the opportunity to continue working outside the home yet receive help with the physical care of a loved one during business hours.
Assisted Living Communities
An assisted living residence is a special combination of housing, personalized supportive services and health care designed to meet the needs -- both scheduled and unscheduled - of those who need help with activities of daily living.
Trained staff members assist residents with personal and daily activities such as getting out of bed, bathing, eating, using the bathroom and regulating medications. Assisted living facilities offer daily meal plans, laundry, housekeeping, medical services and a wide variety of planned recreational activities.
Residential Assisted Living
Residential Assisted Living Communities provide lodging, food and support services for people who are elderly or who have mental or physical disabilities; who are unable to care for themselves, but who do not require 24 hour nursing services in a licensed nursing care facility. In most cases, those facilities are private homes that have been transformed to provide a residential environment that meets the needs of seniors. Trained staff members assist residents with personal and daily activities such as getting out of bed, bathing, eating, using the bathroom and regulating medications. Residential Assisted Living facilities offer daily meal plans, laundry, housekeeping and a wide variety of planned recreational activities.
Alzheimer's Care
Alzheimer's care is a service available at most assisted living communities and nursing home facilities. Specialized programs are designed to care for seniors who suffer from mild memory impairment, Alzheimer's disease, and other dementias.
Nursing Homes
Nursing Homes offer 24-hour a day medical care for those who can no longer live independently. Nursing homes are equipped with medical professionals and supplies to offer specialized care for those with severe illnesses or injuries as well as rehabilitative services for those temporarily impaired.
